I started a thread about my diet in the nutrition center, and someone brought up casein protein. I thought I would make a thread in the BB disc. area because I'm interested as to everyone's opinions on the two.

For my own personal question, I would like to know if it's a good idea to take casein protein before bed only, or it is a good protein to use throughout the day (except for post workout where whey is better bc it absorbs better).

Just looking for your opinions...

i usually use whey 1 1/2 hours (20g) pre workout then 2 scoops after. I've found that casein works well for me at night. I know that you can take it during the day, like a whey/casein blend, but i usually take it at night. another thing, if i run out of casein you can just drink some milk before bed...has alot of casein.

Yeah I mentioned casein. The main difference as it relates to bb is that whey digests in 2 hours and casein digests in 5-7 hours. Take whey after your workout and casein before bed.

I agree 100%. Casein has it's advantages. Whey is good for upon awakening and pre and post workout. But its not like carbs, it will not do any damge if you take fast digesting protein anytime in the day, but casein will feed your muscles longer and leave you feeling fuller. Casein definitely before bed or if you know you will go sometime without consuming a BB friendly meal. GET GRANDE!!!

Thanks, I ordered some optimum casein for bed time. I know food is the best, but at college you do what you can when your in a dorm. next year, when i got a place, things will be different. for now, i gotta rely on powders a little more than I would like to. but its better than letting my body go to shit like most college kids i see.

i second freak here.. casein is most used and best used before bed b/c it digests in the body in 5-7 hours.. thats just how much many people sleep a night and when u wake up, the caseineffect is gone and u can go take a whey...
