Mate, dont know if this will help you at all. But when i started i used a weight that i could easily do 12 reps with then as i got stronger or maybe just my biceps got bigger i started to lift heavier.
.
My advice and i'm sure everyone will say the same is start with a weight your comfortable with then gradually get heavier/bigger weights. It also comes down to using the correct 'form' when lifting weights. stick with it and you'll see improvements.
straight bar 155 is prolly my max, weight really doenst mean much with bi's since they are so small. Focus more on good quality reps in the 10-15 range getting a good squeeze
thats 60lbs dumbbell curls.. a 60 pounder in each hand
60 pounders are a pretty hefty size I just did 60lb ers for the first time on hammer curls last week can do 135lb barbell with a little cheatin but workin on that
For biceps im a preacher of lighter wieghts and higer reps. I will occasionally lift heavy for biceps cuase I also belive in changing things up a bit. I can do around 70lb dumbell curls with decent form. If im doing a cheat set it's 80lbs.
