When he first started training, he followed an Upper - Off - Lower - Off split for 2 years that he says built a really good base. Then he moved into a more typical bodybuilder's style routine, training about 4 days per week, each muscle group once every seven days. He was doing drops sets & forced reps by this time.
Come 1992 he was only training 3-4 days a week - 2 main working sets per exercise, with more drop sets, pre-exhaust, and all that stuff.
It was around 1993-94 when he moved on to the "one main set per exercise" idea that he still uses to this day. That wouldn't be a very good idea for a young trainee though, as all those intensity techniques can burn you out fast; Dorian was very genetically gifted and also used plenty of gear. |
