What exactly was Dorian Yates' training method ? What principles did he apply to get that big ?

He had his own version of Mike Mentzer's High Intensity Training (HIT).

Dorian Yates believed in High Intensity Training (HIT), exaughsting his muscles by putting in maximum effort into a few focused, and incredibly intense sets. he beleived in pre-exaughstion too.

i think he did 2 pre-exaughst sets on every exersize before doing one final mega-intense one, then he would move onto the next exersize and repeat.
for leg day as an example: leg extensions: 2 sets of 10-12 reps (warm ups)
leg extensions: 1 set of 10- 12 reps (working set)
then
leg press: 2 sets of 10-12 reps (warm ups)
leg press: 1 set of 10-12 reps (working set)
you get the drift. (obviously there is more to Dorians leg workouts than this)

When he first started training, he followed an Upper - Off - Lower - Off split for 2 years that he says built a really good base. Then he moved into a more typical bodybuilder's style routine, training about 4 days per week, each muscle group once every seven days. He was doing drops sets & forced reps by this time.

Come 1992 he was only training 3-4 days a week - 2 main working sets per exercise, with more drop sets, pre-exhaust, and all that stuff.

It was around 1993-94 when he moved on to the "one main set per exercise" idea that he still uses to this day. That wouldn't be a very good idea for a young trainee though, as all those intensity techniques can burn you out fast; Dorian was very genetically gifted and also used plenty of gear.

I want that book bad, but I am not willing to pay $80 for it. Anybody tell me where I can find it cheaper. I can't find it anywhere.

He states in an interview that he has average genetics, it was his hardwork and dedication to his diet, day in and day out throughout the years that got him where he was at. Plus the gear of course. I use the HIT in my workouts, your body will adapt to the style over time but you have to watch out in the beginning because you will burn out.
