some people dont need to do as much cardio as others because they just have fast bmr's (base metabolic rates).

obviously over the years of preparing for competing they know how tuned their body is at losing fat when going through a strict diet regime plus 'added bits' and cardio.

I agree Stone, they carry so much lean mass that their bmr is surely very high.

I've also heard that he wakes up four hours after he sleeps so he can down another protein shake. I wouldn't doubt him if he said he ate ten meals throughout the day. Eating about every two-three hours.

If you watch most of Jay's videos you see him doing cardio in them as well as lifting. He has a crazy schedule...in ripped to shreds hes up at like 2am or somewhere around that doing cardio at the golds gym.

Sometimes he splits his routine(or used to) and would go to the gym twice a day for weight training alone. I think that it used to be for quads and hamstrings. Either way, throw cardio in there and there goes quite a bit of time, but most of their day is literally spent revolving around meal preparation and eating. Day gets consumed quickly when you eat actual whole foods(not shakes) for meals every two/three hours. If they dont follow a strict time schedule the area that will suffer is the diet, and thats how you lose competitions quickly.

I believe Jay eats 10 times a day, when I met him at the NPC show in NYC in June, he was signing autographs and eating pasta. Then later in the signing he was eating chicken.

Pre contest he does eat 10 meals a day, each containing at least 100 carbs and 50 gms of protein.
